Join us on August 17th for a seminar about Keeping Up with the Fire Codes. The Chief Engineer for the Austin Fire Department will

provide an overview of the fire codes adopted by the City of Austin to manage the risks of fire in buildings in the City’s jurisdiction. Stay after for a tour of the Medical Center as well as some great networking with appetizers and beverages provided.

SPEAKER: Joe White, Chief Engineer, Austin Fire Department Engineering Services

Graduate of Oklahoma State University’s School of Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology.  Worked for a short time for Industrial Risk Insurers doing surveys of insured industrial occupancies.

Worked for the Austin Fire Department as a fire protection engineer from 1992 – 2001.

Worked for the Phoenix Fire Department and the Phoenix Development Services Department from 2001-2008.

Worked for the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos New Mexico as a fire protection engineer with responsibility for the fire protection systems and features at the nation’s 43 acre plutonium complex and the Lab’s radioactive liquid treatment facility.

I returned to the Austin Fire Department in June of 2015 as the Chief Engineer responsible for managing the AFD’s Engineering Services section.

I stay busy in my spare time managing a small cat ranching operation in south Austin.  The herd currently consists of 7 rescue Persians who keep my busy and broke.
