Great night in DalLAs for BOMA Austin!
BOMA Austin at BOMA Dallas convention photoBOMA Austin members converged on Dallas this last weekend for the Southwest Regional Conference, hosted by BOMA Dallas. There was great education and networking, but the weekend highlight was the TOBY Gala. BOMA Austin took home two TOBYs. Congratulations to the HPI Team at the Summit at Lantana and the Endeavor Team at Frost Bank Tower. Both beat out competition from other BOMAs to take home the win. ON TO NASHVILLE!

Brady Wants Tax Reform Markup This Spring

Marcus & Millichap: Positive Outlook for Office Sector
The future is bright for the U.S. office sector, according to Marcus & Millichap’s 2017 U.S. Office Investment Forecast. As the overall U.S. economy remains strong, increased demand for office space combined with modest levels of new construction should lead to a continued decline in office vacancy and a moderate increase in asking rent over the next year.

This past year marked the sixth consecutive annual decrease in the U.S office vacancy rate. Though this decline has been concentrated in urban markets, the performance of suburban properties is improving and this trend is likely to continue. Net absorption of approximately 83 million square feet will outpace office completions and generate a 20-basis-point decline in the U.S. office vacancy rate to 14.3 percent—the lowest point of the current cycle. This reduction in vacancy is expected to cause a 3.5 percent increase in average asking rent. Though this year likely will mark the high point in completions for the current cycle, construction remains modest by historical standards, providing minimal competition to existing properties.
