The New Waller Creek - May Monthly Membership Luncheon

Waller Creek graphic

As best said by Curbed; “What do you do about an oft-flooding creek that happens to cut a serpentine line through the middle of downtown? If you’re the City of Austin, you build a tunnel. If you’re a private-public partnership between the City of Austin and a nonprofit conservancy dedicated to revitalizing that creek, you launch the most ambitious parks project the city has ever seen.” The Waller Creek Conservancy, in partnership with the City of Austin, is developing a chain of parks around a restored Waller Creek in downtown Austin. Running from Waterloo Park at 15th Street to Lady Bird Lake, the new Waller Creek parks district will include more than 37-acres of newly designed and connected urban parks and public open space, and more than three miles of new hike and bike trails, along with engaging art and educational programming. Come hear about this exciting new project at our luncheon!

House Republicans Urge Trump to Fire IRS Chief
IRS logoFifteen Republicans on the House Ways and Means Committee this week called on President Trump to fire IRS Commissioner John Koskinen for his “numerous shortcomings.” The call for Koskinen’s removal came just as the IRS chief was scheduled to testify about the tax-filing season before the Senate Finance Committee and less than two weeks before the April 18 tax-filing deadline.
