Report: Hiring Fueled by Small Companies and Secondary Markets
Hiring graphicAccording to the latest Cornell/SelectLeaders Job Barometer report, the commercial real estate job market remains strong, primarily driven by the hiring practices of small companies and secondary markets. Although larger firms have driven the recovery over the past few years, small companies have increased hiring over recent months, contributing to an overall uptick.

These smaller firms tend to lack the infrastructure of larger firms, and therefore are more likely to outsource their search for applicants to search firms and recruiters. The latest report also shows that the type of commercial job posting also has evolved over the past 10 years: opportunities in development and acquisitions are down, but new jobs in fields like real estate technology have emerged over the last decade.
